Guest Pet Blog: Emma Morgan
Tell Your Parents about the Paws for Peace Walk!
Hey fellow awesome pets! It’s Emma here, beloved furry child of Ultima and John Morgan of the Morgan & Morgan law firm. You probably remember me from those funny commercials my parents did for the firm. I wanted to take a minute to remind you to ask your parents to bring you to the 3rd annual Paws for Peace Walk on Saturday, Nov. 3 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Blue Jacket Park in Baldwin Park.
It’s a great cause because Harbor House is building the first on-site kennel in Central Florida for the pets of domestic violence survivors. That way, when people who are being abused decide to leave that terrible situation, they can bring us with them. How cool is that? And it’s really important too, because 85% of women entering domestic violence shelters like Harbor House say their pets were threatened, harmed or killed. How awful, right? That’s why many women refuse to leave an abusive home without their pet. While those pets are undoubtedly grateful, it keeps both them and their parents from getting the help and safety they need.
Now, no family member—even furry ones like us—will be left behind in an abusive home. And it’s all because of the Paws for Peace Kennel at Harbor House.
My mom and dad thought this was so important, they decided to be the Presenting Sponsor for the whole event this weekend! They couldn’t imagine having to leave me behind for any reason…I’m their best friend after all! I always knew they were the coolest parents ever, but this takes the cake. Mmm, cake.
Well anyway, I thought you would all want to know about this awesome project and I’m sure if you told your parents, they would bring you out this weekend for a fun walk to raise awareness about ending abuse, both for people and their pets.
Registration starts at 8, so don’t be late! For more info, tell your parents to check out www.harborhousefl.com/pawsforpeace.
