Community Education

Harbor House facilitates education sessions for community groups and businesses throughout Central Florida.

Harbor House has made great strides in creating special programs geared to preventing the escalation of domestic violence.

Harbor House provides professional education about domestic violence to law enforcement, health care, social services and human resource professionals. The specialized training includes successful ways to deal with victims and abusers. In addition, the program sheds light on the warning signs to detect if abuse is present in a home situation.

Harbor House staff and trained volunteers facilitate educational presentations to the community at large. These presentations are delivered at no charge and highlight facts about domestic violence as well as the role of Harbor House in the community.

Harbor House also offers free monthly educational presentations on the Dynamics of Domestic Violence. Contact our Community Education and Prevention department for more details.

PROFESSIONAL/COMMUNITY TRAININGS

The Dynamics of Domestic Violence (DV 101) Training is hosted the first Tuesday of Every Month at the Marks Street Senior Center from 2:30pm to 4pm. This is a free training. CEU's are available.

TRAINING REQUESTS

Community outreach is essential to creating a seamless and accessible safety net in our community and important in preventing future violence. Harbor House employees and trained volunteers facilitate trainings and staff booths at community fairs in order to heighten awareness about domestic violence and Harbor House services.

HUMAN TRAFFICKING

Trafficking in persons is an increasing problem that involves both sexual exploitation and labor exploitation of its victims. Trafficking affects all regions and the majority of countries in the world. Both men and women may be victims of trafficking, but the primary victims worldwide are women and girls, the majority of whom are trafficked for the purpose of sexual exploitation. For information on human trafficking, contact our Community Education and Prevention department or go to the links below.
