911 Phone Drive
IMPACT LIVES, THE MOVEMENT AND THE ENVIRONMENT
The 911 Cell Phone Drive is an established donation program where community partners host a drive to collect old and/or used cell phones. These cell phones are then taken to our partner, 911 Cell Phone Bank, who refurbishes and cleans all personal information from each phone in an environmentally friendly manner. Once cell phones are ready, Harbor House provides them to domestic violence survivors, free of charge.
Last year, Harbor House supplied over 350 cell phones to survivors of domestic violence. Imagine the sense of security these survivors felt and the emergency services they received as a 911 Emergency Cell Phone rested in their pocket or purse.
How does it benefit Harbor House?
- We are able to provide 911 Emergency Cell Phones to domestic violence survivors in need through the Harbor House shelter and outreach offices.
- In addition to 911 Cell Phones, Harbor House receives funds for recycling and a dontaion of 15 phones will pay for a night in shetler for a survivor.
How does it benefit you and your community?
- Domestic violence survivors are able to seek emergency services immediately, saving their lives, their children and even their pets.
- Cell phones are recycled under a no landfill policy, protecting the environment from electronic waste.
- Your personal information is wiped clean of all information from each cell phone safely and securely.
What do I need to do?
- Download your drive materials.
- Announce your drive to your friends, family and co-workers
- Collect the cell phones
- Mail your cell phones to Harbor House of Central Florida with the pre-paid postage label.
