GO INTO THE COMMUNITY

BE A VOICE FOR THE MOVEMENT
HELP YOUR COMMUNITY UNDERSTAND THE DYNAMICS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND THE SERVICES AVAILABLE

THE PROCESS

  1. Complete the online volunteer application by clicking on the "Get Started" button. We will contact you once this form is filled out.
  2. Attend a free DV 101 Information Session held the first Tuesday of every month.
  3. Attend a volunteer orientation.
  4. Attend Core Competency Training and Speaker’s Bureau Training (if applicable)
  5. Advocate and speak for Harbor House of Central Florida at events and in the community.

OPPORTUNITIES

Harbor House Presenters  
Speak to various groups about the services of our agency, the dynamics of abuse, and the need for funds. Core Competency and Speaker’s Bureau Training is required for this opportunity.

TEAR (Teens Ending Abusive Relationships)
Show our video and lead discussions on teen violence in high school classes.
Core Competency and Speaker’s Bureau Training is required for this opportunity

“Coaching Boys Into Men” - DELTA Campaign*
Assist in developing a social marketing campaign to prevent domestic violence by building alliances with men in the community.
Core Competency Training is required for this opportunity

Fairs and Community Events
Help to raise awareness about domestic violence in Central Florida by representing Harbor House at community fairs and events. Answer questions about our programs and services, hand out information and brochures, and meet people who want to make a difference.

* Coaching Boys into Men is a program of the Family Violence Prevention Fund
