SUPPORT DIRECTLY

WORK DIRECTLY WITH DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SURVIVORS AT THE SHELTER, THE COURTHOUSE OR IN CHILDCARE.

THE PROCESS

  1. Complete the online volunteer application by clicking on the "Get Started" button. We will contact you once this form is filled out.*
  2. Attend a volunteer orientation.
  3. Attend a Core Competency Training.
  4. Start working directly with domestic violence survivors.
    *To support directly and for the safety of our survivors, each volunteer must submit to a criminal background check

OPPORTUNITIES

Shelter Advocate
Answer the hotline to give support, information, and referrals to domestic violence survivors.

Support Group Facilitator
Help plan and co-facilitate support groups for survivors of domestic violence in shelter or outreach. (Prior experience a plus)

Court Advocate
Help survivors of domestic violence fill out injunctions for protection at the Orange County Courthouse and accompany them to court hearings when needed.

Childcare
Help care for child survivors of abuse at the shelter or at support groups within the community.
If part of a group or assisting one time, CORE is not required.
