Facilities Assistant
Full-time

Harbor House is seeking a qualified individual to provide for the general care and maintenance of the Harbor House kennel and in-kind donation center.   Assists donors in delivery of in-kind donations and maintains inventory system. Maintains and operates the kennel and in-kind donation center in a sanitary and efficient manner as well as ensuring that all necessary services for humane feeding, watering, and caring for animals on the campus are completed.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a high school diploma/GED and/or vocational training . This  position requires  a

current, valid Florida drivers’ license,

a safe driving record and a reliable vehicle, the ability to lift 65 lbs frequently, and the ability to restrain active dogs weighing up to 110 lb.

Previous warehouse, logistics, stock, receiving, inventory experience preferred. 1-2 years of kennel maintenance, animal health, nutrition, and humane care experience preferred. A current, valid Florida drivers’ license and a safe driving record are required for this position. Must pass a pre-employment drug and background screen and attend a three day training to become CORE certified.

Court Services Program Assistant
Full-Time

*Bilingual preferred– English/Spanish

Harbor House is seeking an experienced, dynamic individual to perform a variety of administrative duties that include clerical and data management tasks to support its Court Services program. Duties will also include coordinating services provided by the Court Services program for individuals who seek injunctions for protection.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience as an Executive or Legal Assistant is required.Professional experience may be substituted for formal education at the discretion of the Chief Executive Officer.

This position requires knowledge of injunctions, safety planning, and court procedures; excellent interpersonal skills; the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, court personnel, volunteers, and the general public; and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Intermediate to advanced computer skills are required. Ability to read, write, and speak fluently in both English and Spanish is preferred.   Must pass a pre-employment drug and background screen and attend a three day training to become CORE certified.

 

Children’s Advocate
Part-Time Position

Harbor House is seeking an experienced, dynamic individual to maintain a safe, nurturing, developmentally appropriate environment for the children of domestic violence victims residing at a domestic violence agency.  In addition, duties include providing hands-on activities, implementation of curriculum and general facility/classroom cleaning. When necessary the Children’s Advocate is responsible for providing crisis intervention, information, and referral to victims of domestic violence. Uses agency van to provide transportation to residents and assists shelter residents in meeting their physical needs.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum High School diploma or GED. Prefer: CDA, 45 hour DCF training, CPR/First-Aid. A Minimum of one years’ experience in the early childhood field is required. This position will require employees to pass the State of Florida requirements for child care providers. This position requires the knowledge of basic child growth and development; indicators of abuse; ability to respond to children and adults in crisis; to lift and hold 40-pound children; to learn the dynamics and effects of domestic violence on children and adults.Basic computer skills are required. A current, valid Florida drivers’ license and a safe driving record are required for this position. Must pass a pre-employment drug and background screen and attend a three day training to become CORE certified.  Professional or non-professional experience may be substituted for formal education at the discretion of the Chief Executive Officer.

 

Shelter Services Advocate
Full-time position (Thursday-Monday 3 pm-11:30 pm)

*Bilingual preferred- Spanish/English

Harbor House is seeking an experienced, dynamic individual to provide advocacy, support, crisis intervention, safety planning and lethality assessments to survivors of domestic violence residing in the emergency shelter. 

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of an undergraduate degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field is required.  A minimum of one year of case management experience preferably in a domestic violence program is required.Professional experience may be substituted for formal education at the discretion of the Chief Executive Officer.

This position requires knowledge of case management skills, the ability to provide effective and immediate crisis intervention for clients, and to facilitate support groups. Basic to intermediate computer skills are required. A current, valid Florida drivers’ license and a safe driving record are required for this position. Must pass a pre-employment drug and background screen and attend a three day training to become CORE certified.

Ability to read, write, and speak fluently in both English and Spanish is preferred.

 

InVest (Intimate Violence Enhanced Services Team) Advocate
Full-Time Position

*Bilingual – English/Spanish

Harbor House is seeking an experienced, dynamic individual to provide service management, advocacy, support, crisis intervention, safety planning, lethality assessments, and follow-up services to participants referred for services by the Florida Department of Children & Families (DCF).

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of an undergraduate degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field is required.  Minimum of one year in of service management experience preferably in a domestic violence program, law enforcement, or other related victim advocate program. Experience working with DCF or knowledge of the dependency court process is preferred.  Professional experience may be substituted for formal education at the discretion of the Chief Executive Officer.

This position requires knowledge of case management skills, basic counseling skills, community resources, the ability to provide effective and immediate crisis intervention for clients, ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Basic to intermediate computer skills are required skills and ability to work with a survivor data base and Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. A current, valid Florida drivers’ license and a safe driving record are required for this position. Must pass a pre-employment drug and background screen and attend a three day training to become CORE certified.

Ability to read, write, and speak fluently in both English and Spanish is preferred.
